Describe the cable condition and door position
State whether you noticed fraying, a loose loop or one side of the door sitting lower. Include any recent impact or earlier cable repair without trying to expose more of the mechanism. If the opening is blocking normal access, explain that during the request rather than attempting to pull the door level or create clearance yourself.
Specify the parts and follow-up checks
The proposal should explain the cable work and any related hardware damage. Repeated cable trouble can indicate a wider door problem, so mention earlier repairs. Keep maintenance instructions for the installed system rather than using a generic adjustment video.
Assess the connected parts
Ask whether drums, pulleys, brackets and the counterbalance need attention as part of the repair. A replacement cable should not be treated as a cure for an unresolved alignment problem. Coordinate property access and the Town’s applicable working arrangements if the job requires a larger intervention.
Your questions
Should I send a picture of a loose cable?
A photo taken from a safe distance can help describe the problem. Do not reach into the mechanism, move the door or remove a cover to get a closer view.
Will cable service change the exterior of my door?
Cable work concerns the lifting mechanism. If the sections are also damaged, ask for that work to be described separately rather than assuming it is part of the same repair.
Will both sides necessarily need identical work?
The repair recommendation should explain the condition of the system and why components are included. Do not choose the scope from appearance alone.
