Distinguish a silent unit from a struggling door
Tell us whether the light or wall station responds, whether the motor makes a sound and whether the door begins to move. Those observations describe the fault without proving its cause. Avoid opening the electrical housing or using an extension lead to bypass a suspected supply problem. Keep an unstable door stationary and mention any recent power interruption.
Compare the complete replacement option
If the installed operator is unsuitable for repair, ask what comes with the proposed replacement: drive components, controls, protective devices and setup. The quote should identify any existing accessories that cannot be retained. A new operator still depends on a mechanically suitable door, so additional door repairs need their own explanation rather than being hidden in an equipment upgrade.
Your questions
Does an illuminated motor light prove the opener is healthy?
No. Lighting and operating functions can fail differently. Describe what works and what does not.
Can I keep my existing outside keypad?
Only if it is compatible and appropriate for the replacement system. Have its model and required setup checked.
