Preserve the evidence without testing the load
Report a sudden loss of lifting ability, a loud break or visible spring damage. If a vehicle is inside, explain that when arranging the visit; it does not make lifting an unstable door safe. Do not pull on cables, loosen brackets or try a different opener setting. Henry’s needs to evaluate how the door is supported as well as which spring has failed.
Understand parts and follow-up separately
Ask for the spring selection and related findings to be recorded on the service paperwork. A worn cable, damaged roller or distorted section may require another item in the repair scope, with its reason explained. Routine care after the repair follows the installed system’s instructions; it does not involve owner adjustment of spring tension.
Your questions
Could the opener be damaged as well?
Possibly. Operating against a counterbalance problem can affect other components, so the assessment should consider the complete system.
Does a broken spring always make both sides look uneven?
No. Appearance varies with the system and failure. Do not use a level-looking door as proof that it is safe to operate.
